Highermead is situated along a quite lane, close to the old market town of Camelford. Surrounded by fields and trees there is an impression of seclusion, and yet the town is only a short distance away. We aim to ensure and provide the best care and comfort to all our residents in a homely and family run atmosphere.
Highermead Residential Care Home is registered for eighteen male and female residents and we have a strict no smoking policy. All bedrooms are beautifully furnished and some of them are ensuite.
On the ground floor there are seven bedrooms and eleven bedrooms on the first floor which are serviced by a lift.
Residents are encouraged to make themselves “at home” with pictures, ornaments and small items of furniture. The home has two lounges, a dining room and a small visitors lounge. The kitchen is located at ground floor level. It has a range of both commercial and domestic quality equipment. The laundry is located on the ground floor level. There is a large commercial washing machine and a commercial tumble dryer. A total of four, some with assisted bathing facilities. Our overall standard of bathrooms is good. There are a number of wcs in addition. During the summer months many activities and days are spent in the garden, weather permitting!
The site provides both garden areas and a tarmac surfaced car park for approximately 15 vehicles. A high ratio of staff are NVQ trained and specialise in providing the best quality care which is paramount to our residents.
Private and Local Authority funded residents are welcome and there are no hidden extras.
WHY ENTER A CARE HOME?
Some people in the more mature group suddenly find themselves living alone with few or no visitors at all, they can unknowingly be a burden or a worry to their family, who, through commitments of their own, cannot attend to their loving parents needs as much as they would like to. Others are just lonely and will not admit it. Being elderly and alone is always a risk. Even though you are in good health, a slight fall can leave you helpless and this worry will always be in your childrens’ minds.
HAVE YOU CONSIDERED ………………
Are you eating the correct food, and do you get enough of it?
Is your general health and hygiene being observed?
Are all the bills paid?
Can I go out without worrying about the house?
Do I have someone to laugh with when I return home?
Well, we could go on and on but our main aim is to help you feel comfortable, happy and cared for and to integrate you into our new family away from your family.
